PATHWAYS TO STEM CELL SCIENCE is a unique laboratory-based non-profit training institute that arose out of the University of Southern California (USC).
They provide aspiring scientists with advanced training in critical bio science skills that are not taught in a school or college setting. They also support public education and outreach and provide career guidance to students who are interested in forging bio science careers. Located in a biotech incubator in Los Angeles California, they are one of the only industry-based educational programs for K-12 and college students in the world.
The grant monies was used to establish 12 scholarships for under-served students from low-middle income, at-risk and minority backgrounds to attend the EiHS Stem Cell Academy, at Pathways to Stem Cell Science. The scholarship program was named "The Wayne Hawley EiHS Stem Cell Academy Scholarships".
